NORWICH DROPPED INTO THE PREMIER LEAGUE RELEGATION ZONE.
Norwich dropped into the premier league relegation zone last weekend, despite not playing due to the FA Cup semi-finals. The Canaries are only in the drop zone on goal difference, but face a difficult trip to Arsenal on Saturday in the Premier League.
Both their relegation rivals Sunderland andNewcastle look to have favourable fixtures. Sunderland travel to Stoke, while Newcastle host Crystal Palace. Neither Stoke nor Palace has much to play for this season. The Eagles also have the distraction of the FA Cup final next month, so are unlikely to be highly motivated to finish their league campaign.
Norwich heads to north London to face Arsenal on a terrible run of form. The Canaries have won just two of their last 16 Premier League games and their 3-0 home defeat to Sunderland really was a disastrous result for Alex Neil’s side.
Not only are the Canaries playing poorly, the two north east sides have suddenly dug deep and found some fighting spirit. Very few people will be backing the Canaries to survive the drop this season.
The Canaries fixture list is mixed, as after Arsenal they host Manchester United and Watford at Carrow Road, before finishing their campaign at Everton. United are currently fighting for a top four spot, but their other opponents have very little left to play for this season.
The situation does not look good for Norwich at the moment, but after this weekend’s results it could be even worse, as if results go against the Canaries they could find themselves 19th place in the Premier League and hoping that results go in their favour elsewhere.
